AI Meal Planner is a meal planning app that works entirely in your browser. This policy explains what happens when you use the optional Sync feature to keep your data in sync across multiple devices.

What we collect

When you create a Sync account, we store:

• Username — the name you choose when signing up
• Passphrase — stored only as a secure one-way hash (bcrypt). We can never see your actual passphrase.
• Device names — the names you give each device (e.g. "Kitchen Fridge", "My Laptop")
• Email address (optional) — only if you choose to add one for passphrase resets and email sign-in
• Your meal plan data — recipes, shopping lists, favorites, ratings, and cooking history that you choose to sync

What we do NOT collect

• No real name or personal identity information
• No location data
• No analytics or tracking of any kind
• No cookies for advertising or tracking (we use one small cookie strictly for keeping your sync connection open)
• No data is shared with or sold to third parties

How your data is used

Your data is used for one purpose only: keeping your meal plans in sync across your devices. When you make a change on one device, it is sent to the sync server and pushed to your other devices.

Where your data is stored

Your data is stored on our sync server in an embedded database. Passphrases are hashed with bcrypt and device tokens are hashed with SHA-256 — we never store them in a way that can be reversed.

How long we keep your data

We keep your data for as long as you have an active account. If you delete your account, all of your data is permanently removed immediately.

Your rights

You have the right to:

• Access your data — use the Backup feature in the app to download everything
• Delete your data — use the "Delete Account" button in Sync Settings. This permanently removes your account, all devices, and all synced data.
• Stop syncing at any time — disconnect from sync and your data stays on your device in your browser, just like before

If you are in the European Union, these rights are guaranteed under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). We process your data based on your consent, which you give when creating an account.

Children

This service is not intended for children under the age of 16. We do not knowingly collect data from children.

Changes to this policy

If we make changes to this policy, we will update the date at the top of this page. For significant changes, we will make the updated policy available the next time you open the app.
